As the fall semester approaches, Emporia State University’s Office of International Education is looking forward to the next group of incoming students.
On average, Emporia State plays host to roughly 400-500 international students per year from multiple regions including Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East. That’s roughly 6 to 8 percent of the total student body. From those regions ESU partners with 30 different universities in 12 countries which include China, Colombia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Paraguay, South Korea and Taiwan.
Dean of International Education Mark Daly says ESU has spent years creating strong relationships in each of these regions, and they are currently looking to expand that reach.
ESU President Allison Garrett says the international community is vitally important at ESU for several reasons.
Last fall the Office of International Education reported 433 students attended ESU from 56 different countries with the majority coming from The People’s Republic of China. ESU is anticipating between 450-500 students attending ESU for the 2018-19 academic year.
