The Emporia Rescue Mission is adjusting some of its admissions policies for men needing to stay at the facility.
On KVOE’s Talk of Emporia recently, Director Lee Alderman said these are changes for the better when it comes to the mission and the city as a whole.
Alderman says an influx of methamphetamine addicts over the last two years has prompted the change.
Alderman says other missions across Kansas have taken similar steps.
Alderman says the Rescue Mission doesn’t have the resources, including space or manpower, to handle the load. The Rescue Mission’s capacity is 16, but Alderman says a decision has been made to serve no more than 12 men in order to better serve the men needing help.
