Damage estimates continue following a devastating fire at 2i Feeders near Allen Friday afternoon.
The fire destroyed a commodities barn and a hay grinder, the source point of the blaze and an unspecified amount of hay. No injuries were reported and business spokesman Mike Uhl was busy over the weekend moving cattle and finding a temporary storage place for the feed.
2i Feeders specializes in custom feed, animal health and cattle management with components including agronomy, commodities, transportation and feed options. Uhl says even with the tragedy and ongoing drought, they’re pressing on.
Uhl says there is still some corn and hay that will be hot for another week and they’ve been unable to get an exact dollar amount on damage but says it’s likely a total loss. Uhl says it will likely take a few months to rebuild their commodities barn.
