Momentum is building for a major fundraising effort at Flint Hills Technical College.
The WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust is providing $100,000 on top of a $400,000 lead gift announced two months ago for the Inspiring Wranglers culinary arts campaign. Vice President of Advancement Mike Crouch says this is an important donation for several reasons.
Given the Jones Trust history of funding worthy projects, Crouch says donations like these give residents a comfort level that their donations will be put to good use.
The overarching goal is a total renovation and expansion of the Hospitality and Culinary Arts program, including the lab areas, dedicated classroom space, a chemistry lab and renovated student commons area. The renovations will also let the program be accredited by the American Culinary Federation and let students achieve chef status when they receive their associates degrees from the college.
This puts the campaign at $610,000, or better than a quarter of the way towards the $2.4 million goal. For more information or to donate, call the Flint Hills Technical College Foundation at 341-1380.
