Healthier Lyon County is looking to improve the local food system, and with that in mind the group is hosting a food policy panel discussion Thursday.
Those attending will hear from several people from other Kansas counties that have instituted food policy councils, either at a city or county level. A discussion will follow presentations.
Healthier Lyon County is hoping this event shows the need for Emporia and Lyon County to develop and adopt a joint policy council to enhance the local food network.
The meeting is at 1 pm at the Lyon County Extension Office.
