Emporia School Board members will formally begin the process of replacing longtime member Mike Helbert when they have their regular meeting Wednesday.
Board members will discuss a resolution to publish the board vacancy and then likely will approve the public notice. Helbert resigned in June after 11 years on the board, citing other commitments.
In other business, the board will have a follow-up discussion on goal-setting progress and will have a needs assessment update. During the consent agenda, where several matters can be resolved with one vote, board members could approve a lease extension with Flinthills Mall for the Flint Hills Learning Center and could approve a memorandum of understanding between USD 253 and Fifth District Community Corrections for the Spartan Explorers Afterschool Program.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at Mary Herbert.
