Motorists will have to continue to find an alternate route around the ongoing Public Works project near 12th and Prairie.
City Engineering crews shut down the intersection July 5 for what originally was anticipated as a two-week closure. However additional pipe breaks near that area including one on a 20-inch line Tuesday near 15th and Prairie Park Lane have hampered progress there.
Officials with the Emporia City Engineering office tell KVOE News the 12th and Prairie intersection will remain closed until further notice and haven’t offered a timetable as to when work may be completed there.
Elsewhere across town, work continues down the road near Sixth and Prairie where a new 12-inch main is being installed near Tyson’s southbound employee entry road. That project is anticipated to last about a week.
South Avenue at Carter is also closed for about two weeks as 16-inch main is installed. The project benefits Industrial Park III and nearby neighborhoods.
