Gubernatorial candidate Jim Barnett has received a new endorsement by a former Kansas lawmaker.
The announcement was made earlier this week that former state representative Jim Lowther would be lending his support to Barnett’s campaign. Lowther, an Emporia native, says Barnett would bring a level-headed and balanced perspective to the job.
Barnett previously served on the Emporia school board for eights years, for of which as President. With education being a major issue in the legislature for the last several years, Lowther believes Barnett’s experience within the education system would be a great advantage to him as Governor.
This is the second endorsement Barnett has received for his gubernatorial campaign as the Kansas Traditional Republicans announced their support for him earlier this month.
Barnett and his wife Rosemary Hansen are vying for the Republican nomination as governor and lieutenant governor respectively. Emporia will host a lieutenant governor forum at the Granada Theatre July 24 at 6:30 p.m.
