Emporia Police are investigating after a passenger car and bicycle collided near downtown Emporia Friday afternoon.
The cyclist suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene after being struck by the Volkswagen Beetle near the 8th Ave. alleyway between Mechanic and Commercial Street. According to Emporia Police Sgt. DJ Dragonas, the cyclist was southbound in the alleyway and failed to yield to the westbound vehicle, causing the crash. No one inside the vehicle was hurt.
The accident closed off the one block stretch for about a half hour. Emporia Police continue to investigate.
