The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team was out scored by Garnett 12-11 in a Zone Tournament elimination game last night. That ends the season for the Post 5 Juniors.
It was a back and forth game. Emporia had a 2-1 lead after the first inning. It was tied at 3 after the 2nd inning. Garnett would lead 8-4 after the 5th inning. Post 5 scored 6 runs in the 6th and a run in the top of the 7th to take a 11-8 lead. Garnett scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th for the win. Emporia committed 11 errors in the game and only 5 of the 12 Garnett runs were earned. The Post 5 Juniors end their season with a 12-16 record. Despite the losing record Coach Anthony Markowitz said there were a lot of bright spots.
