Recognition will likely be coming soon for Lyon County Emergency services and its prompt response given to Greenwood County following the June 26 Eureka tornado.
Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell organized an incident management team to assist after the tornado struck the town. He says cleanup takes time and their role is to help speed up that process.
Fell says Lyon County sent dump trucks and heavy equipment both two years ago and this year for the tornado cleanup. He also credits Westar Energy for a prompt response almost immediately after the tornado struck June 26.
The “help thy neighbor” philosophy is one adopted Fell says by emergency response teams across the state and says he knows the next time Lyon County suffers a disaster, that help will be reciprocated.
Greenwood County Emergency Management Director Levi Vinson has said that both the Lyon County Emergency Management team and Lyon County Highway Department was there from day one helping assist in the cleanup effort and says they are grateful to have such great neighbors.
