Authorities have identified the victims of a fatal car accident following a multi-county police pursuit Saturday.
Shortly before 8 pm a Lyon County Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on I-35 at mile marker 142. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Sharnicca Cannon of Tucson, Ariz., and a passenger, 20-year-old Anthony Krawczyk of Mesa, Ariz., refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. Cannon attempted to exit at mile marker 160, the Melvern exit, and lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and rolling several times.
Coffey and Osage County EMS/Fire and a LifeTeam helicopter responded to the scene, where Cannon and Krawczyk were pronounced dead.
During the pursuit, it was learned the vehicle, a 2007 PT Cruiser, had recently been reported stolen during a robbery in Emporia.
Multiple agencies are coordinating on the investigation. The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the fatality crash. Details about the robbery and vehicle theft are pending from Emporia Police and may be released Monday. The Lyon County, Coffey County and Osage County Sheriff’s Offices are also assisting as all three were involved in the pursuit.

11:30 pm Saturday: Two dead after Osage County crash following pursuit
Two people are dead following a crash in Osage County after authorities were led on a multi-county pursuit starting in Lyon County.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the suspects were pursued east out of Emporia late Saturday evening and continued northbound through Coffey and Osage counties, eventually ending near the Melvern exit on Interstate 35. Authorities say the suspects attempted to exit but instead wrecked the vehicle and were killed at the scene. Their names have not yet been released.
