The Kansas Supreme Court announced Friday the appointment of five new members to the Access to Justice Committee including one from Lyon County.
Ruth Wheeler, who serves as the district court administrator for the 5th Judicial District serving Lyon and Chase counties, began her term July 1. Her term continues through June 30, 2021.
The Access to Justice Committee makes recommendations to the Supreme Court about issues such as increasing the resources available for legal services for low-income litigants in civil cases. They also work to improve planning and coordination of legal services delivery and to reduce potential barriers to equal access to justice.
The other new members include Chief Judge James Fleetwood of the 18th Judicial District, composed of Sedgwick County, Christie Campbell of Wichita, Kansas legal services, District Judge William Ossmann of the 3rd Judicial District, composed of Shawnee County and Marcia Hannon, assistant director fo the Kansas Supreme Court Law Library.
