Emporia’s Friendship Meals program needs drivers.
North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging Director Julie Govert-Walter joined KVOE’s Newsmaker program recently with details.
Govert-Walter says there are nine routes in Emporia, with roughly 12 clients or stops per route. She says drop-offs can take place within 45 minutes in most cases. The meals are important from a nutrition standpoint, and Govert-Walter says they are also important because of the personal connections that develop between driver and recipient.
