The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team wrapped up their regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Garnett Thursday night.
Post 5 won the first game 11-2. They scored the 11 runs on only 4 hits. Bobby Trujillo drove in 3 runs with a double as part of a 4 run 3rd inning.
Emporia added 6 runs in the 4th thanks to 9 walks. Avery Peek had the lone hit in the 4th, a triple that drove in a run. Josiah Senne was the winning pitcher going 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts.
Emporia won the 2nd game 3-2. Post 5 scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning on a wild pitch and sacrifice fly. Josiah Senne tripled, driving in the winning run in the 4th inning.

The Post 5 Juniors take a record of 11-14 into the zone tournament that begins Saturday in Garnett. Emporia will open the zone tournament against Chanute. The top 2 teams from zone advance to State.
The Emporia Senior Legion baseball team returns to action Friday night. The Post 5 Seniors host Next Level out of Manhattan in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 6pm at Sodens Grove. The Emporia Senior Legion takes a 19-5 record into the doubleheader.
