ADMIRE — Residents in and around Admire had an uncomfortable Thursday afternoon.
Over 110 Westar Energy customers in and out of the Admire city limits lost power around 3:45 pm. Spokesperson Gina Penzig says a tree fell on a line. No injuries were reported.
Power was restored around 5:30 pm.
Separately, four small power outages developed in Emporia shortly before the Admire situation was restored. Less than 30 customers were affected.
Temperatures were in the 90s with heat index readings approaching 100 during the outages.

Over 100 Westar Energy customers in northern Lyon County are without power.
Westar’s online outage map says the power went out shortly before 3:45 pm for residents in and near Admire. The current estimate has power being restored before 6 pm.
At this time, there’s no word on what caused the outage. Temperatures were in the 90s with heat index readings approaching 100 during the outage.
