Emporia Police have released new details from an injury crash that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 2 p.m. a minivan driven by 31-year-old Steven Baysinger of Emporia struck the northbound motorcycle driven by 41-year-old Shane Parker of Emporia. Parker was hospitalized afterward with a broken leg and facial bruises. He was not wearing a helmet. Baysinger was cited for failure to yield. The crash was the third one worked by Emporia Police Thursday within city limits.
2:30 p.m. Motorcyclist seriously injured after crash at 9th and Mechanic
One person was transported Thursday afternoon following a crash between a minivan and a motorcycle at the intersection of 9th Ave. and Mechanic.
According to Emporia Police Sgt. DJ Dragonas, an eastbound minivan struck the northbound motorcycle in the intersection after failing to yield. The incident happened shortly before 2 p.m. The motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and road rash to his forehead. He was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the van was not injured.
Names have not been released pending further information from Emporia Police. The accident was the third one worked by police Thursday within city limits.
