Lyon County is about two or three weeks away from finalizing its 2019 budget.
The official document was the main focus of Thursday’s weekly action meeting for county commissioners. County Controller Dan Williams tells KVOE News there’s not much left to sort through.
As things currently stand, the levy will be down nearly half a mill from the current-year mark of 60.854. A $10 million increase in valuations from $310 million to $320 million helped to offset around $500,000 proposed budget increases from several departments and allocation agencies.
In other business, commissioners approved an increase in the county’s mileage reimbursement rate from 53.5 cents to 54.5. This corresponds to an identical move by the state of Kansas.
