Francisco Lindor hit a grand slam and a 3 run homerun to power the Cleveland Indians to a 9-3 win over the Kansas City Royals Monday night.
The Royals scored 2 runs in the first inning on a home run by Whit Merrifield and an RBI single by Salvador Perez. Cleveland tied the game in the 3rd inning and took the lead for good in the 4th with Lindors grand slam. The Royals added a run in the 6th on a Jorge Bonifacio single. Manager Ned Yost said there were positive at bats last night.
The Royals and Indians play again Tuesday night with Danny Duffy making the start for the Royals with first pitch set for 7:15.
Whit Merrifield and Brad Keller have been named the Royals player and pitcher of the month for June. Merrifield batted 289 during the month and Keller had and era of 2.38 giving up 6 runs in 22 innings pitched.
