Three area baseball teams played in the USSSA Class A State tournament over the weekend. They came home with a 1st, 2nd and 6th place finish.
The Kansas Shockdawgs West out of Chase County finished in 1st place in the U12 age group. They finished the tournament with a 6-0 record. Coach Brent Monihen it was a great sight to see when they won the championship game.
Coach Monihen said the team started to play for the fun of the game.
The Shockdawg West opened tournament play with a 16-8 win over the Manhattan Barnstomers Black. They also defeated the Spartans Murillo out of Pleasanton 12-4 in pool play. In bracket play they defeat the Kansas Force out of Olathe 12-3. The Manhattan Bandits 9-7. The Kansas City Spartans 9-0 in the semi-finals and the Manhattan Titans 12-2 in the Championship game.
The Emporia Junior Spartans finished 6th place finishing with a 4-1 record. The Junior Spartans defeated the Lansing Warriors 20-9 and the Halstead Fire 20-7 in pool play. The out scored the Salina Kings 18-9 in the first round of bracket play. Defeated the Spartans Murillo of Pleasanton 13-1 and were defeated by the Kansas City Spartans 8-4 in the semi-finals.

The Kansas Shockdawgs U10 team out of Emporia finished in 2nd place with a 5-1 record. Coach Matt Howe said it was a big accomplishment.
Coach Howe said the team improved during the season.
The Shockdawg U10s opened pool play with a 5-1 win over a team from Clay Center. They Defeated the Celtic Crew out of Chapman 33-3. In bracket play they defeated the Kansas City Blue Sox 9-6, Topeka Express 10-2, The Strike Zone Hammers out of Shawnee 12-1. They were defeated by the Cloud County Choppers 6-2 in the Championship game.
