The man convicted of murder in Emporia’s latest homicide will be sentenced for the crime Monday.
Sony Uk was convicted in April of first-degree murder in the March 2017 death of his girlfriend, Mahogany Brooks. Uk shot Brooks several times at her apartment, using a shotgun at close range, according to authorities.
The jury deliberated less than an hour before finding Uk guilty. Sentencing is at 9:15 am in Lyon County District Court.
