One more day of nasty heat is in store before strong to severe thunderstorms cross the area Saturday.
In advance of the storms, heat advisories and a heat warning continue for the KVOE listening area until 7 pm. Lyon and most surrounding counties are in a heat advisory, although Osage and Wabaunsee counties remain in a heat warning. National Weather Service meteorologist Audra Hennecke:
Hennecke says outflow boundaries from storms Saturday morning and early afternoon in Nebraska will complicate the forecast, but the current models say our peak storm timing will be from sunset into the overnight hours.
High winds and hail are the main concerns. The area is under a slight risk of severe weather Saturday night.
We catch a break from the heat with highs in the upper 80s Sunday before low 90s return Monday and stay with us all next week.
We’ll keep you posted on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
