The annual Summer Slam baseball tournament gets underway Friday.
The American Legion Post 5 Juniors will play their first two games of the tournament Friday morning and evening. Post 5 is coming off a split and sweep in back to back doubleheaders this week. Post 5 managed to split with Ottawa Monday dropping their first game 6-5 and winning their second 12-6.
Wednesday the Post 5 Juniors suffered back to back losses to the Topeka Senators 4-1 and 10-8. Head Coach Anthony Markowitz says despite the back to back losses Wednesday he saw a lot of improvement from his players which makes him optimistic going into the tournament.
Emporia will play their first game at 11 am, their second is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
