The United Way of the Flint Hills is roughly two months away from beginning its annual fundraising drive, but a key component of that work ahead has already been finalized.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Tuesday, United Way Director Jami Reever announced Vickie Brooks will serve as the campaign chair.
Reever says the drive is tentatively set to begin in late August, perhaps by Aug. 23, and a goal target will be developed later.
Also during the interview segment, Reever announced several safety-net grants for community partners:
*Catholic Charities: $6,500 for the Mobile Resource Bus.
*Coffey County Resource Council: $11,400 to serve Coffey County
*Food for Students: $13,400 to provide food backpacks for Emporia students
*Help House of Osage County: $15,000 to serve Osage County
*Morris County Care and Share: $15,000 to serve Morris County
*Salvation Army: $44,000 to serve Lyon County
