Thanks to exceptional pitching, the Kansas City Royals bounced back from a series loss to Houston to defeat the Angels 2-0 in a makeup game Monday.
The Royals were led at the plate by Lucas Duda and Rosell Herrera. Duda put the first run on the board singling in Hunter Dozier in the fourth inning. Herrera would drive in Adalberto Mondessi with a single in the eighth for the winning run.
Kansas City was led by rookie pitcher Brad Keller who pitched seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts in 109 pitches. This marks a career high for Keller who has been a bright spot in the Royals bullpen this year since coming to the organization as a rule 5 draft pick from the Diamondbacks in the offseason.
The Royals now head to Milwaukee for game one of a two-game series with the Brewers beginning Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:10, coverage on KVOE 1400am/96.9fm begins at 6:30.
