The Emporia Post 5 A team went 1-1 in a doubleheader with Ottawa Monday evening.
Post 5 fell short their first game 6-5 thanks to a walk-off double by Ottawa in the bottom of the seventh inning. Post 5 opened the scoring in the first scoring two runs off an Avery Peek single. Emporia added to their lead with a single run in the fourth and two in the fifth going up 5-0. Two runs in the sixth brought Ottawa within three and four runs in the seventh sealed the win.
In game two Post 5 rebounded to outscore Ottawa 12-6
Emporia was first on the board again scoring three in the first thanks to hits from Evan Berges, Tanner Brooks and Avery Peek. Ottawa answered in the third scoring two runs off an error and wild pitch. Post 5 added eight runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to clinch the game.
Evan Berges picked up the win for the Post 5 Juniors giving up two runs off three hits with seven strikeouts in six innings.
Post 5 will next play Wednesday when they travel to Topeka for a doubleheader with the Senators.
