Drivers that use the Prairie Street overpass between West Sixth and South avenues will have to plan ahead for construction this week.
The bridge spanning the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks will be closed Wednesday — weather permitting. Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods:
The good news is this is probably a one-day project. The bad news is drivers will have to detour east to the underpasses at State or Congress — or use Road G as an alternate route west of town.
The permanent repairs will likely be bid out early next year, with construction later in the year. Woods says the overpass will likely have to be shut down at times during that project as well.
