STRONG CITY — A Chase County man who was involved in illegal drug and gun activity with several family members two years ago is now being sought by authorities in connection with the case.
Vernon Yoho, 59, had pleaded no contest to being a felon in possession of a firearm and felony marijuana possession. Chase County Sheriff Richard Dorneker says a bench warrant has been issued in relation to that overall case, although further details are pending.
Yoho was arrested at his home in Strong City in March 2016 along with his wife, Vickie; sons Derek and Dustin Yoho; and Dustin Yoho’s then-girlfriend Janice Nelson. The brothers pleaded to drug possession and distribution counts. Nelson received 12 months diversion. Vickie Yoho was found not guilty on two possession counts.
The original case followed a drug investigation involving the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Chase County Sheriff’s Office, Emporia Police and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Teams and the Emporia-Lyon County Drug Task Force. Authorities said they found narcotics, paraphernalia, numerous firearms and a lot of ammunition.
Vernon Yoho was convicted in 2003 in Chase County for unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance. If you have information, call the Chase County Sheriff’s Office at 620-273-6313.
