The American Legion Post 5 A team dominated Ottawa with back to back wins in a double header Wednesday night.
In game one Emporia would close out Ottawa in four innings. After a scoreless first inning Emporia would get on the board in a big way in the bottom of the second scoring six runs. Ottawa would answer in the third with two but could not stop Emporia at the plate as Post 5 would tack on 8 more runs to close Ottawa out. Starting Pitcher Evan Berges got the win giving up just two runs off six hits with two strikeouts in four innings. Six players scored multiple runs for Post 5. John Pringle led the team with two hits in three at bats.
In game two Emporia closed out Ottawa in four innings once again. The Post 5 Juniors would pick up where they left off scoring in all three at bats including four runs in the fourth and three in both the second and third. Emporia would hold Ottawa scoreless to take the win 10-0.
Post 5 will return to action Thursday night to face the Andover Trojans in a double header. First pitch is set for 6 pm at Soden’s Grove.
