An Americus man involved in a burglary at Northern Heights earlier this year entered a plea Friday in Lyon County District Court.
Chase Weaver, 19, entered a plea of no contest and was subsequently found guilty of conspiracy to commit burglary with intent to steal a firearm. He also was found guilty of attempted aggravated burglary stemming from an incident in Olpe last month. The two cases were amended into one case. Sentencing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Aug. 23 and Weaver could spend up to five years in prison on the two charges.
Weaver’s co-defendant, 18-year-old Jace Sull pleaded to similar charges in both cases last week and will also be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. July 26. The two were arrested in late February after a gun was found at Northern Heights and then traced back to a theft in Americus. Authorities said at least one more firearm was recovered during an investigation.
A third defendant in the February case, 19-year-old Samuel Kehoe also entered a plea Friday morning to misdemeanor charges of theft and obstruction. Kehoe is set for sentencing at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 15.
