The Emporia Junior American Legion team went 1-1 on day 1 of the Andover Tournament Friday.
Post 5 opened the day with a 14-4 loss to Augusta. Emporia scored first on an Evan Berges triple. Augusta scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first. Post 5 answered with 2 runs in the 2nd on a Kadyn Williams sacrifice fly and Evan Berges double. Augusta took the lead for good with 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and scored 6 runs in the 3rd inning. Augusta ended the game with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Evan berges was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI for Emporia.
The Post 5 Juniors won their second game 17-2 over Remington. Emporia scored 12 runs in the 3rd inning to end the game early. Kadyn Williams was 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI.
Evan Berges also scored 4 runs and drove in 2 runs. John Pringle and Braden Rethman each drove in 2 runs. Evan Berges was the winning pitcher giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts in 3 innings.
They will play Junction City tomorrow to wrap up pool play.
