The Emporia City Commission met Wednesday afternoon and took action to approve a resolution and ordinance authorizing the issuance of general obligation improvement bonds.
The approval is the final step in the issuance of the 2018 series of bonds, which totalled approximately $7,505 in principal amount. City Commissioner Jon Geitz.
From the bond issue, the city will finance an aviation fuel truck, a rubber tire loader, an ambulance, park improvements, a water transfer line for the water plant, water system improvements and improvements to sanitary lift station No. 9.
The city commission also authorized to return the balance of more than $1.1 million in the local revolving loan trust fund back to the Kansas Department of Commerce. Geitz noted it’s standard procedure from a dated program.
In other business, the city commission proclaimed June 22 as National Teacher Hall of Fame Day and June as “Zoo Month” in Emporia.
The city’s next study session is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 13.
