Authorities in Greenwood County say one person is dead after a house fire near Fall River Lake Saturday afternoon.
The human remains of one individual were pulled from a home at 2255 Lookout Point Road in southeast Greenwood County. According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters from Severy, Central, Fall River and Fall River Lake were dispatched to a house fully engulfed at 2255 Lookout Point Road shortly before 3 p.m. Upon arrival, the home was a total loss, the roof had collapsed and power lines were down hampering the safety of firefighters. Additionally, several explosions occurred potentially from propane cylinders and ammunition.
The victim in the house fire has been identified as 73-year-old William A. Cook of Fall River. The cause of death and the cause of the fire are still being investigated.
