Emporia Public Works crews continue to make repairs on a water main break near 6th and Sunnyslope.
Underground Utilities Supervisor Mike Dvorak reported around 11 a.m. Monday that an eight-inch split had developed in the same line that popped at 6th and Sherman last week. Traffic was slowed, especially in the eastbound lanes of 6th Ave. near the Sunnyslope intersection. Extra valves were shut off during repairs. It is unclear how many customers were affected. Crews have since cut out and replaced the pipe.
Repairs will continue through Tuesday and traffic may be slowed in that vicinity so motorists should exercise caution when traveling in the area. Dvorak tells KVOE News he hopes for the street to be fully repaired by the end of the week.
