The Emporia AAA American Legion baseball team was out scored by Chanute and defeated 417 black on day 1 of the Iola tournament Saturday.
Chanute out scored the Post 5 seniors 6-3. Chanute built a 6-0 lead scoring 2 runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. Post 5 tried to rally in the 5th inning scoring 3 runs. Hayden Baumwart scored on an error and Skyler Douglas double in 2 runs. The Post 5 Seniors were unable to close the gap.
In their second game the Emporia Seniors out scored the 417 Black 4-3. Post 5 scored 2 runs in the third inning. Hayden Baumwart drove in 2 runs with a single with two out. In the 5th inning Baumwart drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Cole Moore doubled in the final run.
Emporia will play the 417 Royals and Iola Sunday.
