Power has been restored to many in and around Lyon County while an untold number of customers to our northeast remain offline after storms blew through the area.
While there has been no damage reported, power was knocked out around for about three hours to roughly 660 Westar Energy customers in far east Emporia affecting areas north and south of Sixth Avenue from Carter Street east to Weaver and areas north and south of Interstate 35 from Roads 180 to 170, east to Road S. Westar Energy spokesperson Jana Dawson says the outage was caused by a tree that fell onto a power line.
Another 160 customers were affected by outages in and west of Americus. An untold number of customers are offline across much of Osage and Wabaunsee counties, including the towns of Burlingame, Carbondale, Eskridge, Overbrook and Scranton with over 10 outages affecting parts of Osage, Wabaunsee and Shawnee counties. Outages have also been reported in Madison, with just a handful of customers offline. Dawson says crews have been busy to get power restored.
Lyon-Coffey Electric, meanwhile, had 47 customers without power in west Emporia and scattered outages elsewhere across the region Saturday morning.
