Over 2,700 riders from around the world will push off into the Flint Hills this weekend for the annual Dirty Kanza.
On a recent Morning Show interview this week, DK Operations Manager LeLan Dains said the event continues to grow.
The new races this year are the DK XL, the 350-mile behemoth that launches at 4 pm from Seventh and Mechanic, and a new high school race that begins at 10 am Saturday from Soden’s Grove. The traditional field of races, including the 200-, 100- , 50- and 25-mile races, will start between 6 and 7 am from the 800 block of Commercial.
KVOE has had a special broadcast from the Lyon County History Center on Friday to highlight the rider check-in activities. KVOE is also broadcasting from the starting gate shortly before 6 am Saturday and again from the block party from 5-7 pm Saturday.
