US Senator Jerry Moran has been crisscrossing the state recently with several stops on his annual Listening Tour. That tour brought him to a town hall stop at Emporia’s American Legion Post No. 5 on Thursday.
Moran says tour stops like the scheduled stop in Emporia and a walk down Main Street in Americus help him craft policy ideas to help residents across the state.
Moran talked at length about the nation’s current trade situation, with tariffs recently announced against longtime trade partners Canada, Mexico and the European Union and an ongoing battle new with China.
On China, Moran says the United States should be working to target any sanctions against bad trade practices. He says the US should also be broadening its outreach to trade partners, both in Asia and across the world, instead of removing itself from trade partnerships.
About 30 people attended Thursday’s town hall.
