Emporia firefighters were dispatched briefly to a west Emporia business after a reported fire Wednesday.
A fire crew was sent to the north entrance of Walmart, 2301 Industrial, shortly before 7:30 pm. There was light smoke but no fire. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says there was an apparent short-circuit or other malfunction in a heating unit, triggering the smoke.
No injuries were reported.
