COUNCIL GROVE — The Kaw Mission State Historic Site in Council Grove is announcing a transition and a reinterpretation of the site.
New exhibits are planned in the coming years, including a temporary exhibit this summer to offer highlights of Kaw Mission’s history during the time of the Kaw reservation and the Santa Fe Trail. Additional exhibits later will connect those stories and historical events to the state’s history.
Effective Friday, admission to the site will be free, but certain exhibits that have been on display for decades will be closed during the transition period.
The site is at 500 North Mission in Council Grove. For information, call 620-767-5410 or go online to www.kshs.org/kaw_mission.
