Renovations to the Chase County junior/senior high and elementary schools are going smoothly.
That was the overall message from USD 284 Chase County Superintendent Jeff Kohlman who recently joined KVOE’s morning show to deliver an update on the ongoing work. Renovations include updates to the high school gym, auditorium, and locker rooms, as well as updates to elementary school classrooms, a new air conditioning system, windows, and carpeting.
A major component of the renovations is a new tornado shelter which Kohlman calls a much-needed addition.
Renovations began and continued while the school year was still in session and classes were ongoing. Kohlman applauded the construction crews on turning what could have been a disruptive situation into an educational opportunity for students.
Kohlman says all renovations are currently on schedule and renovations should be completed by early January 2019.
