Drew Butera hit a solo home run and Salvador Perez hit a 2 run home run to power the Kansas City Royals past the Texas Rangers 5-3 Sunday.
Hunter Dozier drove in 2 runs with a single to get the offense started. Jason Hammel was the winning pitcher. He shutout the Rangers for the first 5 and a-third innings striking out 10. Starting catcher Drew Butera hit his first home run of the season and first opposite field home run of his career and said Hammel was on.
The Royals host the Minnesota Twins in the beginning of a 3 game series. Jakob Junis will be on the mound for the Royals. First pitch is set for 6:15. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
