The Emporia High boy finished in 5th place and the girls finished in 8th place in class 5A at the State High School track and field meet.
The Emporia High boys 4 by 400 relay team of Kesston Gentz, Colton Bieker, Matt East and Brent Hastert closed out the state meet with a 2nd place finish. They finished with a season best time.
After leading most of the race Shawnee Heights would edge out the Spartans for first place. Matt East ran the third leg of the relay.
Abby Stewart finished in 4th place in the 1600 meter run.
Jonathan Olsson finished in 5th place in the shot put.
The Emporia High boys 4 by 100 relay team of Storm Dial, Colin Polston, Colton Bieker and Kesston Gentz finished in 7th place. Storm Dial ran the lead leg of the Relay.
Kesston Gentz finished in 6th place in the 400 meter dash.
Rafael Vasquez finished in 6th place in the 300 hurdles.
Brent Hastert finished in 7th place in the 800 meter run.
That brings to 14 the total number of medals earned by Emporia High Athletes.
