An Emporia State school record was set on day one of the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championship.
Taysean Goodwin broke the school record for the 400 meter dash. He finished 4th in the prelims with a time of 46.71 seconds to qualify for Saturdays finals. Luke Stenzel finished in 12th place in the 400 meter dash prelims.
The mens 4 by 100 relay team of Colin Coleman, Taysean Goodwin, Jordan Reed and Duke Tibbs finished in 10th place in the prelims.
In the womens 100 meter dash Hannah Shield finished in 17th place and Lati Yeargin finished in 23rd place.
Today the mens 4 by 400 relay team of Parker Evans, Luke Stenzel, Duke Tibbs and Taysean Goodwin will run for a spot in the finals.
Taysean Goodwin will also run in the 200 meter dash prelims.
The Finals are set for Saturday.
