Home runs by Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez lifted the Kansas City Royals past the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 Tuesday night.
Gordon hit a solo home run in the 4th to tie the game at 1.
Alcides Escobar doubled in a run in the 4th inning, giving the Royals a 2-1 lead. Perez hit a solo home run in the 6th inning to give the Royals a 3-1 lead. Jon Jay drove in 2 runs with a bases loaded single in the 9th. Jason Hammel picked up his first win, going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 9 hits with 6 strikeouts.
