Emporia’s new car dealers are assessing damage after Saturday’s hailstorm, and for at least two dealers the issues weren’t as bad as they could have been.
At Clint Bowyer Autoplex, manager Steve Vaughn says damage was isolated at his lot.
It was a similar story at John North Ford. Owner Ron Carlson tells KVOE News things could have been worse, especially given the fact there was little to no warning before the hail started falling.
Damage assessments continue at Longbine Auto Plaza, and a report from there could be issued by Tuesday.
Another transportation facility in that immediate neighborhood is the USD 253 bus barn, but Maintenance Director Bob Fancher says there was no damage to report.
Hail fell in a narrow corridor in fast west Emporia late Saturday afternoon. KVOE listeners gave numerous reports of quarter- to egg-sized hail from Burns Street west to Graphic Arts.
