Emporia’s Street Rehabilitation program begins Tuesday.
Ten streets will see various forms of work between now and mid-August:
*Potwin Avenue from South Union to South Mechanic
*South Market from Logan Avenue to Kansas Avenue
*Carter Street from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks to Sundown Street
*Market Street from Second Avenue to the BNSF tracks
*West Street from Sixth Avenue to 12th Avenue
*Chestnut Street from Sixth Avenue to Ninth Avenue
*Elm Street from Fourth Avenue to Fifth Avenue
*Oak Street from Fourth Avenue to Fifth Avenue
*Oxford Drive from the dead end to Lincoln Street
*Williby Drive from 15th Avenue to the cul-de-sac
Not all streets involved in this project will have work done simultaneously. None of the streets will be fully closed to traffic, but roads may be reduced to one lane and flaggers may be needed, depending on the situation and the nature of the road work.
