An Emporia man is behind bars after eluding law enforcement on his motorcycle on four separate occasions late Friday into early Saturday morning.
Andrew Reisen Jr., 19, of Emporia was arrested on multiple charges including Felony Flee and Elude. Just before 7 p.m. Friday Lyon County deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle for traveling 70 miles per hour in the 2100 block of West 6th Ave. in Emporia. The motorcycle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued, continuing northbound on Interstate 35 where speeds were in excess of 130 miles per hour. The motorcycle exited I-35 at Burlingame Road and continued to 12th Ave, then into the 1100 block of Whildin Street where officers terminated the pursuit due to unsafe speeds through a residential area.
Emporia Police located the motorcycle just after 10 p.m. in the 100 block of West 6th Ave. Once again Reisen failed to yield to Emporia Police and the chase was terminated due to unsafe speeds.
At approximately 11:45 p.m. the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office located the motorcycle in the 300 block of Commercial Street. The motorcycle stopped briefly and deputies obtained registration information from the motorcycle, but then once again failed to yield to deputies and the pursuit was terminated again due to unsafe speeds.
At around 12:30 a.m. Saturday both agencies were dispatched to the 1700 block of Highland Street for the report of a motorcycle accident. The driver left the scene. But through a joint investigation between Emporia Police and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, they were able to identify Reisen as the suspect and arrest him.
Reisen remains jailed in the Lyon County Detention Center as both agencies continue their investigation.
