Regardless of rainy skies earlier in the morning, the 25th annual Flatland Cruisers Car Show was a big hit Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds of community members flocked to the show on Commercial Street to view the wide selection of vehicles from vintage trucks to modern day muscle cars. Flatland Cruisers Vice President Robert Sieberns says he was impressed with the turnout, despite the rain earlier in the morning.
Mike Meads of Springfield, Mo., says the car show is about much more than just showing off his rare 440 six-pack car.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit scholarships for students in the Flint Hills Technical College automotive department. Sieberns says the automotive department is vital as the passion and understanding of vehicles is one that is passed down.
Roughly 150 vehicles were on display with some owners coming from as far away as Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma to take part in the show.
