A Lyon County judge has been appointed by the Kansas Supreme Court to the Child Welfare System Task Force.
Fifth District Judge Jeffry Larson will complete the unexpired term of District Judge Daniel Cahill, who serves in Wyandotte County. Larson’s term on the task force ends January 14, 2019.
The 2017 Legislature established the task force to study child welfare services in the state and to report to lawmakers with recommendations for improvements.
The 18-member panel also includes Senate and House leadership; staff from the Kansas Department for Children and Families; and people representing DCF contractors, foster parents, court-appointed guardians, family lawyers, social workers, county attorneys, and law enforcement.
